Create an animated avatar on MEEZ and post it to your blog and Wiki avatar page. Go to each avatar website and create an avatar - post each on your avatar page. You can put the animated avatar as a post or gadget on your blog.
Welcome to our Social Media blog! On this blog you will find web tools that are discussed within this course. You will also find links to each student's blog where they share and reflect on the tools explored. Students will be exploring various web tool applications of which they can utilize to enhance their learning and social experiences. Students will be learning and practicing digital literacy and responsibility, collaborating, creating, socializing, organizing content, while HAVING FUN!!!

Meez is an online website where you can create a 3-D, animated avatar. Customize your avatar with hair, clothing, accessories, gadgets and even animation - to express/represent yourself. I created an avatar using a computer and one cooking! This is a very FUN website to create an animated avatar. I had fun choosing hair, clothing and playing with all the animations. You do recieve 2000 points when you save your avatar. To earn points you may actually pay for them or play games to earn coins and cash! You also receive gifts - which are worth points! Keepvid is a website which enables you to download any video from a website which you normally would not be able to do. It can be used to embed videos in PowerPoint presentations, websites, and more. It is particularly useful when an internet connection is not available, or the website is blocked, such as YouTube. YouTube videos may be downloaded if used in an educational setting.

Zamzar Have you ever wanted to convert a file? Have you ever wanted to save a document as a .pdf or make changes on .pdf documents? This online tool allows you to convert files to different formats, including conversion of .pdf files to Word documents and Word to .pdfs. You can also convert music, video, and photo files to different formats of your choice. This is a VERY useful tool. Select the file to import, the change to be made, and receive a file in the new format at your email address after registration. The documents are editable after conversion. Images will not be as "editable" as text. The text comes in within a text box, but can be edited. |

Students will go to http://ahssocialmedia.wikispaces.com/ and add their blog and email addresses under the Social Media 3o link on sidebar. Today we will go over the settings on our blogs - add gadgets and class members blogs to our sidebar.
Blogs
Today students were introduced to Blogs. We held a class discussion on what blogging is all about. Who blogs? Why do people blog?--to share "news". Blogs can consist of words, pictures and videos. Blogs can be personal diaries, portfolios, an expert sharing information to someone sharing a vacation experience. The possibilities are endless. We watched a blog video from YouTube - creative commons - Blogs in Plain English. Students created a blog utilizing Google's Blogger. Student's customized their blogs - backgrounds and colors. Students also created their first post - "How am I currently using Social Media - or web tools?
